Pediatrix Acquires Kentucky Neonatal Group Practice

    FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 2002--Pediatrix Medical Group, Inc., (NYSE:PDX) has further expanded its national group practice, completing the acquisition yesterday of a neonatal physician group practice that is based in Lexington, Kentucky.
    The four doctors in the Lexington practice staff a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at a hospital that generates annual patient volume of more than 8,500 patient days including approximately 1,500 well-baby nursery annual patient days.
    Including the acquisition in Lexington, Pediatrix has acquired four neonatal physician group practices and added an NICU contract through internal growth during 2002. The other practices acquired are located in Memphis, TN, Columbia, SC, and Charlotte, NC. Pediatrix was awarded a contract to manage an NICU in San Angelo, TX, that has been integrated into its San Antonio practice.
