Pediatrix Expands in Central Florida; Acquires Neonatal Physician Group Practice
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 13, 2001--Pediatrix Medical Group, Inc., (NYSE:PDX) continues to expand its presence in the rapidly-growing Central Florida area with the acquisition today of a physician group practice that specializes in newborn care.
The physician group, based in Lakeland, Florida, has annual patient volume of approximately 5,000 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patient days, and 2,000 annual well-baby patient days.
Pediatrix has acquired three physician group practices in Central Florida since May 2001 with combined annual volume of 38,000 NICU patient days and 5,000 well-baby patient days.
Since embarking on its acquisition program in 1995, Pediatrix has successfully executed its strategy of consolidating physician groups specializing in neonatal and maternal-fetal care in numerous markets across the country.
