FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 9, 2001--Pediatrix Medical Group, Inc., (NYSE:PDX) today announced that it expects to earn 39 to 40 cents per share for the three months ended September 30, 2001. Pediatrix had previously provided earnings guidance of 35 to 37 cents per share.
    Pediatrix attributes the higher earnings to continued operating improvements, same-unit growth and continued improvements in cash collections over the past 18 months.
    Consistent with its previous statements regarding earnings guidance, Pediatrix believes that EPS for the 2001 fourth quarter will be comparable to the results of the 2001 third quarter.
    On October 31, 2001, Pediatrix expects to report results of operations for the three months and nine months ended September 30, 2001.
